Greekfest

The start of the Kalamazoo downtown festivals happens in just a few weeks with the 2008 Greek Festival. This year's festival sponsored by Theo and Stacy's takes place on June 5-7, 2008. Greek Festival

The 2008 Greek Festival organized by Theo and Stacy's is slated for June 5, 6 and 7, 2008 at the Arcadia Festival Place in beautiful downtown Kalamazoo. In it's 32 year history, this festival has been known to kick off the summer season in Kalamazoo on Super Saturday. Learn more about this year's festival.

Cinco de Mayo

Downtown Kalamazoo will host the first citywide Cinco de Mayo Celebration on Saturday May 10, 2008 at the Arcadia Festival Site from noon until 11:30 pm. Highlights include:

  • Mariachi
  • Mexican dancers
  • Pinatas
  • Mexican/Latin Food
  • Variety of vendors
  • Salsa dancing competition

Oberon Beer


Spring has sprung on the eve of one of the yearly rites of passage... the kickoff of the Oberon season thanks to Bell's Brewery in Kalamazoo. Bell's is scheduled to release the popular brand of beer tomorrow. Lasting through October, Oberon is described as "An American wheat ale brewed with Saaz hops. Spicy and fruity, Oberon is the color and scent of a summer afternoon."

International Festival


See and taste the world in a single evening at the 19th Annual International Festival at Western Michigan University will be held on Sunday, March 16, 2008 from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM in the Bernhard Center East Ballroom.

International Festival promises to be a great opportunity for campus and community members to come together and learn about the diversity of cultures existing in Kalamazoo. More information can be found at the International Festival website.

Kalamazoo Nature Center Maple Sugar Festival

Don’t miss the 43rd Annual Maple Sugar Festival on Saturday March 15 and Sunday March 16.

Start the day with delicious pancakes smothered in real maple syrup. Walk along a wooded trail with a KNC Naturalist for a maple sugar tour. Enjoy seeing the mighty Birds of Prey up close and personal. The kids can interact with a puppet show and try some crafts and games. Lively music will fill the air as we welcome back the first signs of spring with another KNC family tradition. Each year the Nature Center makes an effort to make the event more sustainable. Kalamazoo Island Festival

Entering its eleventh year, the 2007 Island Festival is slated for June 22-23 at the Arcadia Creek Festival Place at the corner of Kalamazoo Ave. and Edwards in downtown Kalamazoo, MI.

This outdoor festival is intended as a celebration of Caribbean music, food and culture and will bring much of the best of the Caribbean to Kalamazoo. In the past, beverages included Red Stripe beer and many of the flavored juices and liquors from Bacardi and Minute Maid. Caribbean regional cuisine from Jerk Chicken to Mango Papaya Chutney, fresh oysters with cajun sauces, steamed Crawfish, Coconut Shrimp, Black Bean, Veggie and Lou Lou Burgers, Chimichurri Pork, plus various breads and desserts will be served by area vendors including Francois Steak and Seafood, Caribbean Corner, Jazzy’s Catering, Cajun Grille, Niskers, and Q-it-Up and many others.

The festival begins each midday with regional vendors selling Caribbean cuisine and beverages. Walk through “little Jamaica” and experience the arts and crafts vendors selling items ranging from woodcarvings to handmade drums, t-shirts to jewelry and everything in between.
