Rock for Kids Featuring Loverboy and Kansas

Rock-for-kids Rock for Kids is a two day rock concert featuring national rock bands, Loverboy and Kansas.  Hosted and produced by Wright for Kids, the event will raise money to support programs for children who have needs including abuse and neglect.

Rock for Kids takes place at the Kalamazoo Arcadia Creek festival site on Friday and Saturday August 21-22, 2009.

Taste of Kalamazoo 2009

The 24th annual Taste of Kalamazoo takes place downtown Kalamazoo on July 23-25, 2009. Hosted by the Kalamazoo Jaycees, this year's festival is sure to please. Every year, on the fourth weekend of July, thousands of hungry festival-goers flock to downtown Kalamazoo to enjoy the endless variety of foods prepared by Kalamazoo's most popular eateries. More than 30 local restaurants and chefs will offer mouth-watering combinations of ethnic items, family favorites, exotic dishes, and local specialties, attracting and feeding an average of 10,000 people per day in downtown Kalamazoo and totaling 25,000 - 30,000 attendees over the entire weekend.

Kalamazoo Blues Festival

Kalamazoo Island Festival

From its humble beginnings the Island Festival has grown to be the largest celebration of Caribbean Culture in Michigan. Also known as “A Taste of the Caribbean” the Island Festival brings the unique cuisine of the Islands to Kalamazoo! Visit this article on myKalamazoo.com.

Entering its thirteenth year, the 2009 Island Festival is slated for June 18-20, 2009 at the Arcadia Creek Festival Place at the corner of Kalamazoo Ave. and Edwards in downtown Kalamazoo, MI. This outdoor festival is intended as a celebration of Caribbean music, food and culture and will bring much of the best of the Caribbean to Kalamazoo. In the past, beverages included Red Stripe beer and many of the flavored juices and liquors from Bacardi and Minute Maid.

Caribbean regional cuisine from Jerk Chicken to Mango Papaya Chutney, fresh oysters with cajun sauces, steamed Crawfish, Coconut Shrimp, Black Bean, Veggie and Lou Lou Burgers, Chimichurri Pork, plus various breads and desserts will be served by area vendors including Francois Steak and Seafood, Caribbean Corner, Jazzy’s Catering, Cajun Grille, Niskers, and Q-it-Up and many others. The festival begins each midday with regional vendors selling Caribbean cuisine and beverages. Walk through “little Jamaica” and experience the arts and crafts vendors selling items ranging from woodcarvings to handmade drums, t-shirts to jewelry and everything in between.
